Moscow, Russia, December 3, 2018. The Russian Volleyball Federation are using some of their major stars to promote Volleyball among school pupils and grow the next generation of Volleyball players – and a superstar such as Ekaterina Gamova is just the latest addition to an already impressive list including gold medal winners from the 1980 and 2012 Olympics.
Gamova, a two-time world champion and Olympic silver medallist, as well as the Sportswoman of the Year in Russia back in 2010, recently paid a visit to the School no. 32 in Mytishchi, Moscow Region. The local authorities had prepared a video reviewing all of her successes in many years of elite sport before Gamova answered questions from the students and took part in physical education classes.
“I am always happy to meet with children,” Gamova said. “It is very important to me that I can share with them impressions and memories from my career and to be able to give them good advices for their future.”
Since her retirement from competitive sport, Gamova has been working closely with the Russian Federation to grow the next stars of Russian Volleyball – as a member of the coaching staff of Russia’s youth and junior national teams.
