Olympic Games

Brazil, the United States and Russia (including the results of the former Soviet Union), are the only teams to win multiple gold medals at the men's tournament since its introduction.

The remaining six editions of the Men's Olympic Volleyball Tournament were won each by a different country, namely: France, Japan, Poland, the Netherlands and the former Yugoslavia.

The Gold medals are less evenly distributed in women's volleyball where in the fourteen editions of the Women's Olympic Volleyball Tournament only six different countries have ever won: Brazil, Cuba, China, Japan, the former Soviet Union and the United States of America.

World Championships

The 20 men’s World Championship tournaments have been won by seven different national teams. Russia (as Soviet Union) have won six times, and they are the only team to have played in every tournament. The other World Championship winners are Italy (four titles); Brazil and Poland, with three titles each; Czech Republic as (Czechoslovakia) with two titles; and Germany as (East Germany), and United States, with one title each.

The 19 women’s World Championship tournaments have been won by seven different national teams. Russia have won seven times (five as Soviet Union). The other multiple World Championship winners are Japan and Cuba, with three titles each; China and Serbia, with two titles; Italy and the United States, on the other hand, have one title each.

The reigning World Champions for men are Italy, whilst in 2022 Serbia won the women’s competition for the second time in a row.

The 32 European Championship tournaments for men have been won by nine different national teams. Russia have won fourteen times (twelve as Soviet Union). The other European Championship winners are Italy, with seven titles; Czech Republic as (Czechoslovakia) and Serbia (one as Yugoslavia), with three titles; and France, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Spain, with one title each.

Men

Champions League Volley

Zenit KAZAN of Russia are the all-time record winners of the men’s Champions League with six titles to their name, including four in a row between 2015 and 2018. However, it was Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA of Italy who took the crown in 2019 beating the Russian side 3-1 to end their domination. 

Then after the 2020 season was abandoned due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN KOŹLE surprised the world by taking the first ever Polish Champions League title in 2021, before repeating the feat again in 2022.

Women

Champions League Volley

Further to their success in May of 2022, VakifBank ISTANBUL of Türkiye have the highest number of triumphs in this competition - with five titles to their name. The winners of the first ever Super Finals held in 2019 were Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA, who were crowned as the queens of Europe in Berlin under the newly introduced format replacing the Final Four tournaments with a single winner-takes-all grand finale.
