The remaining six editions of the Men's Olympic Volleyball Tournament were won each by a different country, namely: France, Japan, Poland, the Netherlands and the former Yugoslavia.
The Gold medals are less evenly distributed in women's volleyball where in the fourteen editions of the Women's Olympic Volleyball Tournament only six different countries have ever won: Brazil, Cuba, China, Japan, the former Soviet Union and the United States of America.
The 19 women’s World Championship tournaments have been won by seven different national teams. Russia have won seven times (five as Soviet Union). The other multiple World Championship winners are Japan and Cuba, with three titles each; China and Serbia, with two titles; Italy and the United States, on the other hand, have one title each.
The reigning World Champions for men are Italy, whilst in 2022 Serbia won the women’s competition for the second time in a row.
